Have you ever felt like you were under attack for your faith?
Can you sometimes sense a demonic spirit in a particular place or among a group of people?
I don’t think I am the only one. Over the years I have felt what seems to be demonic spirits in certain places and groups. Looking back, it appears that is when I often came under some kind of attack.
It becomes clear that the darkness senses the light. And THE DARKNESS HATES THE LIGHT. It cannot tolerate it. Satan constantly tries to sway us away from the light, the truth, Jesus Christ.
Looking back over the years, I see many situations where I was wrongly accused, attacked, silenced. I even had a situation recently. Attacks are often from non-believers but sometimes even by those who claim to be Christians.
Oh some say they are believers! But it is obvious that either they are not true believers or they are deceived. Following many different philosophies rather than the one Truth, Jesus Christ and Him alone.
Jesus said to them in reply, “See that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and they will deceive many. (Matthew 24:4-5)
With all that is going on in the world today, the darkness hates the light verse is frequently in my mind. It applies in so many instances.
On our honeymoon we ended up in Reno, Nevada for a concert in a casino, which we would normally never enter such a place. I felt such a heavy spirit of evil in that establishment like never before. People who don’t have this experience can’t understand it and may not know what I am referring to.
In another instance, I was involved in the Parent Teacher Organization for a time at my kids’ school. For the most part it was a pretty vicious and aggressive group of mothers.
On one occasion, some came to my home for a meeting. Big mistake. The spirit of the whole thing was so vile. I felt as if my home had been violated thinking I would surely need to have an exorcism there. The spirit of evil was that strong! It’s hard to say this because we often picture mothers as sweet, caring people but it was not so, folks! These women were savage!
When I was younger I don’t think I fully realized that some people truly are wicked. Just look at the world today, there are many downright evil players. And yes, some are hiding in churches! The devil is alive and well.
All these situations, and there are many more, where I have come right up against the face of evil have one thing in common. The darkness cannot tolerate the light, no matter how many times people say they tolerate everything (which is not good by the way), or “hate has no home here”, “love is love” and all the cutesy sayings mostly touted by non-believers or deceived believers, at best.
I often have been coming to the conclusion that in these kind of environments, I represent the light in their darkness and they are repulsed by it. I do not even have to bring up Jesus or Christianity. The evil senses it.
We have to remember that as believers, it is the light of Christ shining within and through us. It is not about me or you. It is how the God of the universe works. Through His people. I am just one vehicle through which God works. I do think in the spirit realm people perceive this and I am viewed as a threat because I represent Christ, or at least I try to.
Following Christ has continuous challenges and trials, but the early disciples didn’t have it easy either and the Gospel continues on throughout all of time as Jesus promised.
God used the apostles and saints, many of which were martyred. John the Baptist was beheaded, Paul was imprisoned and so many others died for their faith throughout history. Today we have martyrs like Charlie Kirk who dared to speak the truth.
And Jesus paid the ultimate sacrifice for our redemption by dying on a cross. Why should we expect any less if we truly follow Christ? He will give us the grace to deal with the obstacles we face for His Kingdom.
I urge you to continue to follow Christ no matter what the world is doing because the alternative is an eternity in hell. It is not worth having an “easier” time on earth if our eternity with our Savior is forfeited.
This is the reason we are put on earth, not for ourselves but for the Kingdom of God living in and through us. It is our purpose and mission in life and reason for living. We are just passing through, on the way to our permanent home.
Sometimes we get caught up in the everyday things life throws at us, and of course we must take care of our families and earthly responsibilities, but we need to realize we are working for the Kingdom through all of it.
We never know who we will cross paths with and why. God can use us everywhere. At the store, in public restrooms, train stations, and on the internet. Anywhere we travel through life with Christ we are called to be the light in this world filled with evil and darkness.
We are either on the path of Jesus and the saints before us, or the path reserved for unrepentant sinners. It is a choice each of us has to continually make.
Choose wisely. Hope to see you in heaven.
